Privacy Policy

We collect only the minimum data required to provide the app's functionality:

• ·Account information — Your username and an optional email address. Providing an email is never required — if you skip it, a 16-character Recovery Key is generated instead for password resets.
• ·Reading data — Books you add, reading sessions you log, and progress data. This is the core of what Aura stores — it is your data.
• ·Crash reports — Anonymous, non-identifying crash logs to help us fix bugs. These are not linked to your identity.

• ·No advertising identifiers
• ·No location data
• ·No device contacts or photos
• ·No browsing history
• ·No data sold or shared with advertisers — ever

All data we collect is used exclusively to operate and improve Aura. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the reading tracker service.

Aura was built to give you total sovereignty over your data. During onboarding, you choose your storage engine:

• ·Local Only — Your reading data never leaves your physical device. We cannot see it, and if you delete the app, it is gone forever.
• ·Aura Cloud — Your data is synced using Google Firebase (Firestore) so you can access it across devices. Data is encrypted in transit. Google's privacy practices apply to their infrastructure.
• ·Self-Hosted — You provide your own server URL. Aura communicates directly with your hardware, bypassing our infrastructure entirely. We have no access to your data.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties, except as described below or as required by law.

• ·Google Firebase — Used for cloud storage and authentication when you choose the Aura Cloud storage mode. Only applies if you explicitly select this mode.
• ·AI Recommendations — The Oracle (opt-in) — If you explicitly choose to use The Oracle feature, the titles, authors, and ratings of your logged books are sent to the DeepSeek API (api.deepseek.com) to generate personalised recommendations. Your email, username, and identity are never sent to the AI. You can opt out at any time in Settings.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen inside the app, or by navigating directly to aurareads.app/account/delete. Upon deletion, all your books, sessions, and account data are permanently and irreversibly removed from our servers.

Alternatively, contact us at the email below and we will delete your data manually within 30 days.

Aura Reads is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
